James B. Westbrook, 75, of Jonesboro died Saturday, December 9, 2006 at NEA Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pat Westbrook, formerly Pat Hearn of Blytheville, Arkansas.
James was born in Jonesboro and moved to Blytheville with his family as a young boy. As a young adult, he was associated with the Westbrook Family Shoe Store in Blytheville. Married in 1953, James served his country in the United States Army in Fort Hood Texas. In 1956, he moved to Jonesboro and was employed by Burroughs Corporation from which he retired in 1986. Since retirement, he has owned and operated Westbrook Home Improvements.
James was a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. He was veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. He loved camping, boating and spending time with family.
He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Knowles and husband, Ed of Macon, MO; Sharon Bostic and husband, Sam of Jacksonville, AR; two sons, James T. Westbrook and his fiancée, Vicki Rudd of Kennett, MO; Jerry Westbrook and wife, Karen of Denison, TX.
He is also survived by a sister Catherine Dobson of Maumelle, AR; nine grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and numerous other blended family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James T. and Katherine R. Westbrook of Blytheville and a brother Paul L. Westbrook of Poqueson, VA.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating and burial to follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Ian Knowles, Cody Westbrook, Eric Knowles, Lynn Hearn, Drew Rudkin and Sam Bostic, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are J. L. Westbrook, Robert Westbrook and Ryan Knowles (currently Qingdao, China). Visitation will be from 5 – 7 Monday evening at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
