Jacqueline Sue McInnis, 78 of Jonesboro died Saturday May 14, 2011 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.
Born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, she lived in Jonesboro since childhood and had lived in Germany, Panama and Alabama from 1954 till 1975. Mrs. McInnis moved to Jonesboro where her father worked on the Cotton Belt Railroad. After graduating from Jonesboro High School, she attended Arkansas State where she was a charter member of Phi Mu Sorority. After college she moved to Washington, D.C., where she was a secretary for J. Edgar Hoover, and met her husband who was in the Presidential Honor Guard.
Mrs. McInnis traveled with her husband in the Army and spent several years in the Dothan, Alabama area. She moved back to Jonesboro in 1976. She had worked for the Social Security Department, the East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging and owned her own business called “The Yarn Shop”. While in Ft. Rucker, Alabama she worked in aero medical research. She was a member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lee McInnis and sister, Katherine Napper.
Survived by her sons, Kenneth Lee McInnis and wife Lori of Virginia and Carl Randall McInnis and wife Tammy of Somerville, Tennessee.
Six grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Graveside service will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday May 17, at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, with Chris Cooper officiating. Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. Monday May 16, at Emerson Funeral Home.
