Jacob “Jack” Earl Wheeley, 80, of Jonesboro passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born March 16, 1938 in Jonesboro to the late Earl and Virginia Wheeley. Jacob was a member of Big Creek Valley Baptist Church. He was a simple man who loved his family, especially his grandkids. Jacob farmed most of his life and also enjoyed working for Wheeler Brick. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood working.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerrod Hickey and 2 brothers, Gerald and Kenneth Wheeley.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Corene Wheeley of the home; 3 sons, Tommy Wheeley of Trinidad, Texas, Buddy (Sandra) Wheeley and Johnny (Lisa) Wheeley both of Jonesboro; 2 daughters, Brenda (Randy) Harper of Jacksonville, Florida, Wilma “Peanut” (Clive) Brinkley of Dalzell, South Carolina; 2 brothers, Dean (Mable) Wheeley of Bono, Wayne (Lottie) Wheeley of Jonesboro; 4 sisters: Helen Oden and Barbara (Richard) Hager both of Jonesboro, Wanda Wheeley of Bay, Marie (Larrie) Woodard of Bono; 12 grandchildren: Jacob (Annie) Wheeley, James and Ryan Robinson, Jacob (Kimberly) Hickey, Michael (Taina) Hickey, Heather (Jason) Murphy, Brandy (Dewayne) Green, BJ (Devon) Wheeley, Chris Barnhill, JD Wheeley, Arissa Farmer, Callie Wheeley; 7 great grandchildren: Gavin Moore, Shelby Murphy, Kenzie Murphy, Kyleigh Wheeley, Mia Wheeley, Paxton Green and Preston Green.
Funeral service will be Monday, February 18, 2019 at 2:00 pm in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Gary Gipson and Jimmy Thompson officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service.
