Jacob Garland, 7, of Jonesboro, finished his battle with cancer and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at his home, in the arms of his loving parents.
Jacob was born on July 10, 2018, in Jonesboro to Matt and Bethany Garland. In his seven beautiful years, Jacob filled the lives of everyone around him with laughter, imagination, and a love that was bigger than the world itself.
He attended Unity Missionary Baptist Church with his family. Jacob loved all things superheroes—especially Marvel and his favorite hero, Spiderman. He was also a huge Star Wars fan and proudly dressed as his favorite character, Kylo Ren, for Halloween. He enjoyed playing video games, particularly Among Us, Minecraft, and Lego Super Hero games. His favorite television shows were Bluey and Spidey and His Amazing Friends.
Jacob had a joyful spirit and a vivid imagination. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and his smile could light up any room. He especially loved to give and receive smoochy kisses and big squeeze hugs, never missing a chance to show just how much he loved the people around him. He formed special bonds with those closest to him, especially his best friends and “brothers,” Tyndale Robinson and Jonah Cox, and his favorite person in the whole wide world, Ashley Vega.
He is survived by his loving parents, Matt and Bethany Garland of Jonesboro; his brother, Canaan Garland; his sister, Elizabeth Garland; maternal grandparents, Tamera and Kenny Broadaway; paternal grandparents, Robert and Jaquetta Garland, and Pamela and Marvin Collins; uncles, Schuyler Broadaway (Mallory) and Marvin Collins Jr.; aunts, Natalie Brown (Anthony) and Amanda Allen (Tommy); along with many other family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held on March 6, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 7, 2026, at Emerson Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tyndale Robinson, Jonah Cox, Canaan Garland, Weston Adcock, Gillen Adcock, and Bennett Broadaway.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Academy of TLC, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
