Jackie (“Jack”) Glenn Wright, 79, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Saturday, August 25, 2018, to meet his Lord and Savior. He was born on the family’s farm in Craighead County on October 7, 1938, to the late Fred and Blanche Wright.
Jack has resided in Craighead County all of his life and was married to his high school sweetheart, Pat, for 60 years. He was a graduate of Valley View High School, where he played baseball and was a member of the 1956 state championship basketball team. Early in Jack’s life, he served in the United States National Guard. In his younger days, Jack loved to rodeo and calf rope and eventually turned his love for horses into raising and racing thoroughbreds. He farmed for 45 years with his two brothers. He enjoyed music and learned to play both violin and guitar. He appreciated poetry and was known to quote a verse or two for friends and family members. Jack took special care of his farm and livestock and enjoyed gardening. He was a member of several devotional groups and the Cattlemen’s Association. He was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church.
In addition to Jack’s parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jim Wright, and his sister, Pat Gibson.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Pat Wright, of the home; daughters: Toni (Kim) Inboden of Bono and Robin (Larry) Ray of Franklin, Tennessee; brothers: Bob (Wilma) Wright and Freddy (Charlotte) Wright both of Jonesboro; four grandchildren: Lee (Tabitha) Inboden, Amanda (Nic) Smith, Mary Hollis Inboden, and Michael Dickens; three step-grandchildren: Dylan Ray, Tanner Ray, and Logan Ray; five great-grandchildren; Kai Dickens, Evan Smith, Ryan Smith, Avenly Smith, and Eden Inboden.
A visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Emerson Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Emerson Funeral Home with Dan Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery with active pallbearers being: Lee Inboden, Michael Dickens, Nic Smith, Kim Inboden, Larry Ray, Michael Lewis, Don Lewis, Tim Gibson, Kai Dickens, and Evan Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be: the members of David Burgess Life Group at Central Baptist Church, The Pot Licker’s Devotional Group, Anna Lou and Ronnie Slaven, Yvonne Reeves, and Bill and Lily (Mac) Vick.
