Jack M. Pitts, 83, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, in Little Rock. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1966, moving here from Russellville, Arkansas. Jack was a member of the Magnolia Road Baptist Church. He was in the US Army serving during the Korean War where he became disabled. His love for math inspired him to become a math teacher. Due to his disability he was never able to obtain this goal. He also had a love for classical music and was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Agnes Pitts; brothers, James Everette Pitts and Dr. Charles Frank Pitts; sisters, Elise Robertson, Vivian Claudia “Pud” Palmer and Carol DuBois Pitts.
Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Yvonne Pitts Brooks and her husband Ken; sister, Mary Agnes McMillan, all of Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, March 19, 2012 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Emil Williams officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Tyre Cemetery at Hydrick, Arkansas, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 12:30 until service time at the Emerson Chapel.
