J. E. Simpson

January 19, 1935 — July 9, 2023

J. E. Simpson, 88, a lifetime resident of Jonesboro, died on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center.  He was born in Brookland, Arkansas on January 19, 1935 to Guy Edward and Elmire Simpson.  He served his Country in the U. S. Air Force and the U. S. Army National Guard.  He attended Nettleton Baptist Church for many years.  As a retiree from General Electric and the National Guard his spare time was filled with golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Norma Simpson, of the home; sons, Joe Simpson and wife Suzanne of Inlet Beach, Florida; Tim Cudd and wife Jill of St. Louis, Missouri; brothers, Ray Simpson of Jonesboro; Bernard Simpson of Vilonia, Arkansas; sister, Marie Simpson Parker of South Carolina; grandchildren, Jess Simpson, Ella Walzer (Bryce); Eason Dearen; and Lindsey Demith (David); great grandchildren, Finley Kate, Beckett, Drake, Adeline, and Ryder.

A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time.  Burial will be private.
