Ivy Holt, 76, of Bay, died Wednesday at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. Born in Marietta, Mississippi, she had lived in the Bay area most of her life. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Bay and was the owner/operator of Ivy’s Beauty Shop in Bay for 28 years. She liked to sew and loved sports of all kinds, especially basketball. She loved to cook and garden. Her gardening idea was for Mr. Holt to plant it, and for her to pick and cook it, and then for her to eat it. She said that her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Rayford Holt, of Bay; son, Randy Holt, Ash Flat; daughter and son-in-law, Rita & Henry Rogers, Bay; sister, Frances Farrar, Knoxville, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Shawn (Jamie) Rogers, Taffy (Justin) Hawkins; and great grandchildren, Ethan Rogers, Matthew Rogers, Jansen Hawkins, and Addison Hawkins; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Clinton & Mary Fortner Gann; 5 brothers and sisters; 2 half brothers; and 1 half sister.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Tim Wilkes and Marvin Rickett officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry Murphy, Terry Murphy, Lynn Scott, Mike Bradford, Donnie Davis, and Danny Findley
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
