Obituary

Steve Moody, 77, of Bay, departed this life on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born June 10, 1949, in Jonesboro to the late O.W. Moody and Johnnie Moody. A lifelong resident of Bay, Steve was a member of First Baptist Church in Bay and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Jonesboro.

Steve dedicated 40 years of his working life to General Electric before retiring. He also proudly served in the National Guard during the Vietnam Era.

Steve loved Bay, and there was no mistaking where his heart belonged. He was a proud Bay Yellowjacket and could talk for hours about Bay Yellowjackets basketball, the players, the games, and anything else Yellowjacket-related. His love for his hometown and its people was evident to everyone who knew him.

Outside of his work and his love for the Yellowjackets, Steve enjoyed fishing, farming, and spending time with his family. His grandchildren held a particularly special place in his heart, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

Steve also took great pride in his garden. Each year, he would plant a huge garden and grow just about everything imaginable. He loved working in the garden and watching it grow, and it was one of the many things that brought him great joy.

Steve will be remembered as a devoted family man, a proud Bay Yellowjacket, a hardworking man, and a friend to many. His stories, his love for his hometown, and his genuine enjoyment of the simple things in life will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June Lamberson Moody.

He is survived by two sons, Johnny Moody and wife, Melissa, of Paragould, and Michael Moody and wife, Anna, of Jonesboro; one daughter, Stephanie Moody of Bay; nine grandchildren, Jerod Moody, Sarah Moore, Gentry Moody, Ollie Moody, Lincoln Moody, Everleigh Moody, Everett Moody, Jadyn Clark Watson, and Conner Clark; eight great-grandchildren; and a lifetime of friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be officiated by Bro. Danny Taylor.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Josh Towery, Rick Woods, Derek McIntire, Alan Blankenship, Mark Kee, and William Long.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
