Ira H. (Buddy) Sneed

Ira H. (Buddy) Sneed, 85, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday February 4, 2009 at his home.

He was born in Leachville, Arkansas and was a WWII Navy Veteran. Upon returning from the war he moved to California and worked for Rockwell Aviation for thirty years. He worked on various aircraft projects including the Apollo Rockets and space shuttles. Buddy retired in 1982 and returned to Arkansas for the next twenty two years. During his lifetime he made thousand of friends and still kept most of them even to this day. He was a faithful member, usher and greeter of the Fairview Baptist Church. He loved to fish and hunt with his friends and buddies from church. He always had time to help a friend or stranger in need. He is in Heaven now and will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Delta Sneed, one sister, one brother.

Survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Glenda Sneed of the home.

Lonnie Sneed and wife Paula of Torrance, California.
Donnie Sneed of Fortuna, California.
Three step sons; Dan Humphrey and wife Marsha of Jonesboro.
Rick Humphrey and wife Cindy of Jonesboro
Gary Humphrey and wife Leigh Ann of Eads, Tenn.

One step daughter; Carolyn Carter and husband Jeff of Jonesboro.
One brother; Melvin Sneed of Batesville, Arkansas.
One sister; Helen Johnson of Bono, Arkansas.

Thirty one grandchildren and forty two great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday February 7, 2009 at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Brother Paul White and Brother Don Seat officiating. Burial will be at Browns Chapel Cemetery, with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge.

Active pallbearers; Jeoff Sneed, Greg Sneed, Raymond Sneed, Taylor Pillow, Jeff Hazelwood, York Humphrey, Neil Wise and Scott Humphrey

Honorary pallbearers will be Fairview Missionary Brotherhood, Jonesboro District Brotherhood and Ray Ingram.

Visitation will be from 5 – 7:00 P.M. Friday February 6, 2009 at Emerson Funeral Home.
