Inez "Ned" Atkins

July 2, 1920 — December 4, 2020

Inez “Ned” Atkins, 100, of Jonesboro passed away Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born July 2, 1920 in Red Bay, Alabama to the late Grover and Carlie Pleasant. Ned was a member of North Main Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning. Spending time with family and friends is what she loved the most.

In addition to her parents, Ned was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Atkins; 2 daughters, Shirley Britnell, Sue Fike and 1 grandson, Michael Scott.

Survivors include her 2 daughters, Betty (Joel) Scott of Jonesboro; Birdie Prentice of Maryville, Ohio; son, Ricky (Amanda) Atkins of Trumann; son in law, James Britnell; 14 grandchildren: Joel (Leigh) Scott, Kathy Scott, Sherry (Mac) Scott, Lisa (Joe) Tidwell, Kenneth Scott, Susan (Ricky) Minton, Pam (Brad) Meszaros, Melanie (Brian) Reed, Michelle (Tim) Wood, Kim (Roger) Forbus, Hollie (Nathan) Brock, LeAnn (David) Fagan, Brittany (Joey) Payne, Tyler (Justin) Muse; 30 great grandchildren, and 25 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 2:00 pm in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. David Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service.
