Imogene Smith

Imogene Smith, 84, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at the N.E.A. Medical Center of Jonesboro.

She was born in Octa, Missouri, and had lived in Jonesboro since 1964. She attended the Dixie School, was a homemaker and a longtime member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max L. Smith, Sr., one son, Max Smith, Jr., her parents, George T. and Velma Wilson Renard and three sisters, Joyce Houghton, Jerolene Pope and Maurine Wooten.

Survivors include two sons, Ortrie D. and his wife, Kris Smith of Kansas City, MO.and Olen D. and his wife, Kathy Smith of Ft. Smith, AR.;

one brother, George Renard of Memphis, TN.,

one sister, Jo Ann Barnhill of Dixie, AR.;

six grandchildren: Casey Tourtillott, Angie Thurmond, Mikki Cobb, BJ Smith, Drew Smith, and Jake Smith;

six great-grandchildren: Lauren and Paige Tourtillott, Emory and Miles Thurmond, Elijah and Levi Cobb; and, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM., Friday, September 1, 2006, in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Curtis Shatley officiating. Burial will be private.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM. until service time Friday, September 1, 2006, at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

Nephews will be serving as active pallbearers.
