Ian “David” Morris, 67 of Jonesboro passed from this life Thursday, March 11, 2021 at St. Bernards Medical Center.  He was born to Robert Calder Morris and Ora Bee Stuckey Morris on May 14, 1953 in the Panama Canal Zone.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 38 years, Marty K Morris and a brother, Deric Morris.  Survivors include three daughters, Kim (Jeremy) Parmer of Jonesboro; Keriann (Kevin) McKee of Jonesboro; Kristin (Matt) Flowers of Cherokee Village; son, DJ (Ali Gould) Johnson of Williamsburg, Virginia; brother, Craig (Linda) Morris of Michigan City, Indiana; 4 grandchildren, Lilykay and Logan Flowers, Calvin and Jonah Johnson.

David dedicated his life to the Boy Scouts of America.  His love for scouting began very early in life, earning the rank of Eagle at age 15.  He was a Vigil Honor Member in the Order of the Arrow (OA) and served on summer camp staff most of his life.  This love allowed him to have a successful career in the Boy Scouts as a District Executive; serving in the Delta Area Council; the Eastern Arkansas Area Council; and Chickasaw Council.  Even after retirement he continued to serve the organization, as a volunteer in the Quapaw Area Council. Through the OA he gained a love for Native American studies which included peoyte beadwork, traditional dance and costuming.

In his spare time, he loved watching football and western movies. He never missed an opportunity to cheer for his favorite football team, the Hoxie Mustangs.  He enjoyed playing card games with his family, especially canasta. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing, and canoeing with family.  His Episcopal faith also played a pivotal role throughout his life.  David's love for his family allowed him to be a great husband, father and grandfather and he will be greatly missed.

There will be a memorial service Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2 pm at Emerson Memorial Chapel with John Travis officiating. A visitation will start one hour prior to service. In order to keep his friends and family safe, masks will be mandatory.  We respectfully request that you comply with all social distancing protocols.
