Hubert Hollaway, 85, of Bay, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born in Shady Grove, in Poinsett County and attended Bay Public Schools. Moving to West Memphis, he returned home to Bay, Arkansas twelve years ago.
He was a member of the Bay United Methodist Church and a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII in Alaska and the South Pacific. He was an avid sports enthusiast playing American Legion Ball, and coaching softball in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Hollaway, of the home; one son, Gene Hollaway, of Royal Oak, Michigan; a nephew whom he loved as a son, Perry Hollaway, of Wynne, Arkansas; one brother, Jesse Hollaway, of Bay.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 22, 2007 at Nettleton Cemetery with Pastor Angie Gage officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Lee, Bud Warren, Alton Holmes, Bobby Turman and Bill Stone.
