Hubert Howard Bittle, 81, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at St. Bernard’s Hospital on April 27, 2025. Born November 23, 1943, in Jonesboro to Howard and Blanche Bittle, Hubert lived a long and fulfilling life dedicated to his family, friends, and community.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Hubert was a cornerstone of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, where he cheerfully greeted members, brewed the morning coffee, and, perhaps most memorably, earned the title of "designated donut man" for his contribution of sweet treats. For 47 years, he was a dedicated member of the Lions Club, embodying their commitment to service. His days often began with morning coffee shared with friends at Gina’s Place during the week and Hardee's on weekends, a ritual that reflected his sociable nature and love of community. His daily six-mile bike rides to and from Quality Farms demonstrated his enduring energy.
Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Blanche Bittle; his beloved wife, Sandra Bittle; and his siblings, Wayne Bittle, Pat Boyd, and Tony Bittle. He is survived by his son, James (Elizabeth) Bittle; his cherished grandchildren, Lydia and Samuel Bittle; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a vast network of friends.
A visitation celebrating Hubert’s life will be held at Emerson Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service at 10:30 am at Pine Hill Cemetery. Pastor Jim Stillwell will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Taylor, Kevin Snyder, Gerald Patterson, Roy Patterson, Gary Henderson, Larry Wilkerson, CD Greene, and Doug Reesor. Honorary pallbearers are Hubert’s Breakfast Club and the Nettleton Lions Club.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Hubert’s memory to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church or the Nettleton Lions Club. These contributions would reflect his lifelong dedication to both.
