Hoyte W. Caldwell, 83, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at his home.
A native and life-long resident of Jonesboro, Mr. Caldwell was retired from Cities Service Oil Company in Jonesboro and Caldwell Trucking Company. He was a life-long member of First Christian Church of Jonesboro where he served as Deacon and was a member with perfect attendance of the Bykota Sunday School Class.
Hoyte was a member of the Jonesboro Exchange Club and the Catfish Club. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jim and Myrtle Berry Caldwell; 2 sisters: Faye Adkinson and Rhea Erwin; and 3 brothers: Hall Caldwell, Knocker Caldwell, and Kenny Caldwell. He was a great man.
Survivors include:
His wife of 61 years, Jean Griffin Caldwell of the home;
1 Son: Carroll Caldwell of Jonesboro; and
1 Grandson: San Caldwell of Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at First Christian Church in Jonesboro with Rev. Jerry Wilcox and Rev. Bill Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in McDaniel Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Active pallbearers include: Bill Caldwell, Todd Caldwell, Greg Caldwell, David Griffin,
Steve Griffin and Tony Griffin.
Honorary pallbearers include: Dr. F.M. Wilson, Dores Griffin, Claude Campbell,
Jim McDowra, Gerald Pearson, L.F. Shook and Lee Lindsey.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6-8 at Emerson Funeral Home.
