Howard Dwight Vincent

Howard Dwight Vincent, 93, of Van Buren and formerly of Jonesboro, died March 18, 2015 at Sparks Medical Center in Fort Smith. He was born in Lake City, AR to Jack and Willie Mae Vincent on September 20, 1921. He attended Pleasant Valley and Bay Schools. Howard married his wife on July 10, 1945 having served over two years in German POW camps as well as serving in WWII. Howard and Hazel then moved to Wilmington, California where he continued to serve out his time in the army as a drill instructor.

Howard and Hazel moved back to the Pleasant Valley Community in 1951 where they worked a forty acre farm. Howard also worked long hours for the Singer Furniture Plant in Trumann. After moving from the farm to Jonesboro, they later moved to Van Buren to be near their son and daughter-in-law

Howard was a devoted husband and father who lovingly provided for his family.

Howard is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Glenda of Van Buren; brothers, Harlan of Poplar Bluff, MO and Harvey of Trumann.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife Hazel; parents, Jack and Willie Mae Vincent; sister, Joetta Scott and Brother Hal Vincent.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday March 20, 2015 at Emerson Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday March 21, 2015 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jimmy Adcox officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be: Dillin Vincent, Greg Vincent, Kyle Vincent, Jordan Hudson, Mark Stubblefield, and Tory Stubblefield.
