Hosa “Woody” Wilson, 83, of Jonesboro passed from this life on November 14, 2014 at NEA Baptist Hospital. He was born in Monette on July 24, 1931 to the late Hosa and Bonnie Wilson. Woody loved fly fishing, wood working, and spending time at the lake. He had a love of sports that followed him from playing high school football and baseball to rooting for the Dallas Cowboys since 1961 and being a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. Woody is preceded in death by his parents and his wife; Patsy Wilson.
Woody is survived by his sons; Gary Wilson (Abbie) of North Little Rock and Harold Wilson (Linda) of Jonesboro. Brother; Gary Lee. Grandchildren; Whitney Welch (Tim), Garrett Wilson, Tanner Wilson, and Katie Wilson. He also leaves behind one great grandchild; Kace Welch.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bro. Eldon Richardson officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Monette Cemetery with active pallbearers being; Patrick Brown, Charles Brown, Garrett Wilson, Tanner Wilson, and Tim Welch. The honorary pallbearers will be his 1948 football teammates from Caruthersville, Missouri.
The visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday.
