Homer Carter Jr., 74, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Saturday December 19, 2015 at the St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born in Jonesboro on August 9, 1941 to the late Homer Albert Carter Sr. and Ruby Wallace. Homer had lived in Jonesboro for 37 years, moving here from Memphis, Tennessee. He was a retired shift supervisor for Tri State and of the Pentecostal belief.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his daughter; Deborah Carter, 2 sons; John Speed and Homer Palmer.
Survivors include his wife; Betty Carter of the home.
Sons; Maurice Carter of Rockford, Illinois, Bruce Carter (Angela) of Rockford, Illinois, Nicholas Carter of Jonesboro and Michael Speed (Tamika) of Jonesboro.
Daughters; Jessica Carter Lasley (Brandon) of Jonesboro.
1 special granddaughter; Alexis Speed.
14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
4 brother-in-laws; John Prunty (Sherry), Paul Prunty (Alana), James Prunty (Annie) and Greg (Sherry).
1 sister-in-law; Zelma Speed Woods.
Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial service will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday December 22, 2015 at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Elder Glen Conley and Pastor Basil Joiner officiating. Burial will be private with Emerson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House 1138 E. Matthews, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401.
