Herman Arnold Tinsley, 91, of Jonesboro passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, with loving family and friends at his bedside. He was born December 4, 1930 in Zent, Arkansas to the late Charley and Carrie Tinsley. Herman was a member of Brookland church of Christ. He owned and operated Tinsley Saw Mill for over 65 years. Herman, his family, and his employees, cleared land, pulled stumps, built ponds and water sheds with his bulldozers, tractors, and dirt buggies.
He was a cattle and hog farmer. Herman, family, and employees also custom baled hay, putting in barn lofts, raised corn, soybeans, and cotton. “NO weeds on his farm”! Herman, family, and employees pulled them by hand. His cattle were always fatter in the long harsh winters than during the summers. Everything he owned, was FAT!
Herman & Ermal always had plenty for anyone-anyone welcome into their home.
In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ermal Tinsley; oldest daughter, Charlotte Grant; 1 brother, Donnie Tinsley; 3 sisters, Betty Tinsley, Frances Dobson, & Mittie Stallings; 1 Great Grandson, Tristan Taylor; several brother in laws, sisters in laws, uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
Survivors include his daughter, Marian Tinsley of Jonesboro; son in law, Eric Grant of Jonesboro; 2 grandsons, Shannon (Jessica) Roberson of Jonesboro, Shaun (Carey) Roberson of Bryant; granddaughter, Samantha (Trey) Coffey of Newport; great grandsons, Dylan (Samantha) Ferrell, Jordan Ferrell, Aidan Roberson all of Jonesboro, Coen Roberson, of Bryant, Grant Taylor of Newport; great granddaughter, Cali Roberson of Bryant; 1 sister, Gretchen Pruitt of Jonesboro; 2 brothers, Harold and Donald Tinsley both of Jonesboro; sister in law, Lavena Burton of Laverne, California and several loving nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. in Philadelphia Cemetery with Bro. Terry Joe Kee officiating.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home prior to the graveside service.
