Herman L. O’Brien, 56, of Trumann died Friday at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born in Trumann and had lived most of his life there. He loved hunting anything from deer to squirrel. He loved to fish and especially enjoyed working on vehicles. He was a retired road grader in Poinsett County. He was of the Baptist belief.
Mr. O’Brien is survived by his wife, Brenda O’Brien, Trumann; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim & Wayne Chaffin and Amber & Matt Lairson; brother and sister-in-law, Don & Sheila O’Brien, all of Trumann; grandchildren, Cody Blanchard, Hunter Chaffin, Josh Chaffin, Hailey Chaffin; his mother-in-law, Lerlene Stracener, 2 brothers-in-law, 5 sisters-in-law; one nephew and four nieces who dearly loved him; and one special friend, Louis Weaver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. & Lona Haslett O’Brien; a brother, Ricky O’Brien; and his father-in-law, Ernest Stracener.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Log Cemetery with Dale Davis officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be Thomas Ealey, Steve Stracener, Jerry Stracener, Johnny Whitman, Robbie Rouse, and Mike Sullivan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Stracener, Johnny Blagg, Luthar Blagg, William Bonds, Terry Reed, and Bull Tucker.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
