Herbert Edgar Shipman

Herbert Edgar Shipman, 81, of Brookland passed from this life on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at NEA Baptist Hospital. He was born in Light, AR on November 1 ^st , 1936 to the late Rose Lee and Goldie Marie Shipman.

Herbert lived all of his life in the Brookland area and was a member of the Brookland United Methodist church. He worked at Colson for 38 years and retired as the shipping manager. Herbert enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and a good game of cards or dominoes as well as spending time with his loving family. Herbert married the love of his life, Fannie McCamey, on August 31 ^st , 1962. In addition to his wife, the joy of his life was his kids and his grandkids.

In addition to his parents, Herbert is preceded in death by two grandsons, Derek Dacus and Aaron Dacus, as well as two brothers, Clarence Chester Shipman and George Shipman.

He is survived by his loving wife, Fannie Shipman of the home; daughters, Cindy (Nolan) Belcher of Okolona, MS, Carla (Billy) Dacus of Brookland, Holly (Jeff) Cox of Marmaduke and Amy (Scotty) Grimes of Brookland; brother, Wilson (Sue) Shipman of Brookland; sisters, Lee Verty Lewis of Brookland, Helen Hale of Lake City, Linda (Larry) Morgan of Forth Worth, TX as well as sister in law, Pansy Shipman of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Amanda (Howard) Parker of Waveland, MS, Eric Dacus of Brookland, Lance (Courtney) Belcher of Amory, MS, Jessica Cox and fiancé Levi Brandon of Lafe, Jacob Grimes of Brookland, Mayla Cox of Marmaduke, William Grimes of Brookland as well as great grandchildren Jayden Martinez, Blakely Belcher and Jemma Kate Parker.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 5-7 pm in the Emerson Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held at the Brookland United Methodist Church at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 with Mike Smith Officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Eric Dacus, Lance Belcher, Jacob Grimes, Will Grimes, Levi Brandon, Jayden Martinez and Howard Parker.
