Herbert Ray Carpenter, 79, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died Thursday at Ridge Crest Nursing Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Moulton, Alabama, Herbert lived in Los Angeles from 1951-1998. He lived in Florida from 1998-2003 before moving to Jonesboro. He was retired from Pacific Cold Storage in Los Angeles and was a Catholic.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Beatrice Carpenter; his parents: W.F. and Artie Mae Carpenter; by 2 brothers: J.B. Carpenter and Buddy Carpenter; by 3 sisters: Ela Fay Baker, Gertrude Russell and Lilly Mae Moore; by a daughter: Gloria Geane Young; and a great grandson: Dillion Cody Glasgow.

Earnestine Stubbs of Gasville, Arkansas;

13 Great Grandchildren, and
4 Great, Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon, 4-6, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
The family will receive friends at 310 Bradley Street in Jonesboro.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
