Henry Othell Boone Jr.

November 28, 1934 — September 20, 2022

Henry Othell Boone Jr. (Hank) was born in Charlotte, NC, on November 28, 1934, and passed from this life on September 20, 2022, in Jonesboro, AR, at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife Sheila Mitchell Boone, daughter Heather Boone-Rohlfing, son-in-law Tommy Rohlfing, brother Ted Searcy, brother Richard Searcy, sister-in-law Sheila Searcy, and a multitude of friends. He is preceded in death by his father Henry Othell Boone Sr. and his mother Jeanette Murphy. Hank was married to his wife Sheila Mitchell Boone for 46 years. They met at Nelli’s Air Force Base, dated for two weeks, then eloped in downtown Las Vegas. They lived in many different places around the globe, their favorite being Madrid, Spain, where they learned to make the most delicious smoked salmon. Hank served as a sergeant in the Army and transferred over to Air Force where he served another 20years. In 1967 and 1968, he served in the Vietnam war, distinguishing himself by meritorious service as the Driving Force of a two-ton heavy equipment operating team. During the Tet offensive, Sergeant Boone willingly and knowingly faced hostile fire twice daily for a period of two weeks on the dangerous and sometimes booby-trapped route 1 Highway. Hank loved being with his family, being outdoors, wood-working, and watching British television shows. He loved to cook and was known for his meatloaf and pineapple upside-down cake with extra cherries.
