Henley Christopher “Chris” Sims, 52, of Lake City died Thursday, March 31, 2022. He was a lifetime resident of Lake City. He was born in Jonesboro to Henley L. and Lucy Mae Sims on July 29, 1969. He was a member of the Woods Chapel General Baptist Church of Brookland. Chris was a 1987 graduate of Riverside High School. He very much enjoyed being outdoors and appreciated the beauty of nature, especially when he and his dad went on overnight camping and fishing trips. Mountain View was always a place he enjoyed going, riding four-wheelers with friends. Everybody around Chris always enjoyed his great sense of humor. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Tyson and his grandparents.
Survivors include his sons, Jake Sims and Gage Sims, daughter, Lule Sims, all of Jonesboro; Alexis Wiemann of Texas; mother, Lucy Holden (Barry) of Lake City; brothers, Randy Blancett (Janet) of Lake City; Mark Blancett of Jonesboro; sisters, Linda Newcom (Larry); Caroline McAdoo (Becky) of Jonesboro; Terri Carmichael of Lake City; Kristi Ridge (Josh) of Lake City; Carol Bertocchini (Carlos) of California; Peggy Stetzer (Mike) of Jonesboro; one grandchild, Jameson Sims; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Woods Chapel General Baptist Church with Rick Hathcoat officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Lake City Cemetery with Denny Elder, Jon Milligan, Dylan Gibson, Jake Sims, Gage Sims, Derek Blancett and Josh Ridge serving as pallbearers.
