Helen Lucille Turner Gay, born September 10, 1928, passed from this life to life eternal with Jesus on September 17, 2018, in Jonesboro, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Alden Gay, her parents Olas and Annie Turner, and three brothers Paul, Glenn and Wayne Turner. Survivors include a son Jerry (Rebecca) Gay, two daughters, Jo (Layne) Yawn and Barbara Gay Jimenez, five grandchildren Chad (Riannon) Gay, Jennifer (Michael) Woitesek, Brian (Heather) Yawn, Lindsey (Byron) Cato, and Emily (Jeremy) Walter, nine great-grandchildren: Madelaine Helene Gay, Tristan and Stella Cato, Victoria Walter, Cotton and Lincoln Woitesek, Evan, Tanner and Parker Yawn; a sister Janie Jarrett and two sisters-in-law: Elline Davis and Effie Turner; and a host of nephews, nieces, friends and relatives.
Mrs. Gay was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jonesboro and was an excellent musician who loved to sing for the Lord. She was a children's choir director and was a founding member and singer with the Landmark Quartet in Kansas City, Kansas.
Mrs. Gay was a couture seamstress and a knitting instructor. She was a past member of Loose Threads Quilt Club and was the guest artist at the 2015 Threads of Life Quilt and Fiber Arts Show in Jonesboro.
Funeral arrangements have been made through Emerson Funeral home. Visitation will be at 12:30 pm Thursday with services at 2:00 pm at Emerson in Jonesboro. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Gay, Michael Woitesek, Jeremy Walter, Byron and Tristan Cato, and Brian Yawn.
