Hazel Bogan States of Jonesboro, wife of Judge John States, died Tuesday evening at Skil Care Nursing Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Paragould, Mrs. States lived in Jonesboro since 1931. She was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Jonesboro where she was active in Church School, and was a member of Jonesboro Business and Professional Women.

Mrs. States was a legal secretary and retired with 20 years of service with the Social Security Administration. She served as secretary in the Arkansas House of Representatives and the Arkansas Supreme Court.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge John States, 1 granddaughter, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and her parents.

Survivors include:

1 Daughter: Susan Streeper of Taos, New Mexico;

1 Sister: Dotty Epstein of St. Louis;

2 Grandchildren, and
2 Great Grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in Oaklawn Cemetery with Pastor Jo Ann Barker officiating, with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

There will be no visitation.
