Hazel Geraldine Scarborough, 83, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, at Greene Acres Nursing Home. Hazel was born in Jonesboro to the late George W. and Etha Mae Canter Lunsford on August 10, 1940, where she spent the majority of her life.
Hazel was a graduate of Nettleton High School, Class of 1959, and a member of Greensboro Road Church of Christ. She began her career with ADT Security Systems. Later, Hazel embarked on a fulfilling journey with Dillard's, where she spent twenty-two years delighting customers with her warm demeanor and exceptional service before retiring in 2015. Her commitment and excellence were recognized with multiple Pacesetter awards, a testament to her outstanding contributions to Dillard’s.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Hazel's true joy came from her family. She was a loving and devoted mother who cherished spending time with her two sons and adored her grandchildren. Hazel also enjoyed cooking for her family and talking to her sisters on the phone.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Etha Mae Lunsford, as well as her sisters Jeanie Richardson, Georgia Carter, and Jessica Pinchback, and her brothers Randell Lunsford and Terry Lunsford. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Nolan Scarborough.
She is survived by her two sons, Rick (Darla) Scarborough of Lumberton, TX, and Kevin (Brandi) Scarborough of Paragould, AR; her brothers Ralph (Trena) Lunsford of Little Rock, AR, and Richard (Inez) Lunsford of Trinity, AL; her sisters Betty Minton of Little Rock, AR, and Alice Guy of Jonesboro, AR; and her grandchildren, Holly Scarborough, Lauren (Zachary) Allen, Anna (Keaton) Sheppard, and Mason Scarborough.
A visitation will be held from 1-2 pm on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Emerson Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm, officiated by Terry Joe Kee. Hazel will be laid to rest at Nettleton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Carter, Keith Pinchback, Randy Minton, Kyle Lunsford, Christopher Lunsford, Shannon Simino, Jason Martin, and Alex Moody.

Hazel's kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
