Hazel Opal Phillips

Hazel Opal Phillips, 86, of Jonesboro died Wednesday at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She is survived by two sons, Phil Phillips (Sandy) and Joel Phillips, both of Jonesboro; two daughters, Opal Smothermon and and Jo Gambill (Richard); two brothers, Denver Forbis of West Memphis and Vernon Forbis of Harrisburg; three sisters, Rachel Harris of Memphis, Mary Hale of Wynne and Vera Looney of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Carey Smothermon and Morgan Phillips; and two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Jackson Smothermon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Phillips; her parents, Walter Franklin and Banta Mesker Forbis; four sisters; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brother Frank Hardwick officiating. Entombment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday 5-7 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Phil Phillips, Joel Phillips, Paul Harris, Rick Carter, Richard Gambill, and Carey Smothermon.
