Hazel Katherine Vincent, 92, of Van Buren, formerly of Jonesboro, died January 9, 2013 at the Legacy Heights Retirement Center in Van Buren. She was born in Lake City to John & Leora Keiker Haag August 10, 1920. She attended Pleasant Valley School near Bay. Hazel married her husband, Howard Vincent on July 10, 1945 in Jonesboro. Howard and Hazel moved to Wilmington, California where Hazel worked on the military base and on the ocean pier. They moved back to the Pleasant Valley Community in 1951 where they lived on their farm for many years before moving to Jonesboro. They have lived the last several years in Van Buren to be near their son and daughter-in-law. Hazel spent most of her life as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a long-time member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Howard Vincent of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry & Glenda Vincent of Van Buren; sisters, Lessie Stubblefield and Mary Smith, both of Jonesboro.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, John & Leora Haag; sisters, Johnnie Mae Brownfield, Jane Fullenwider; brothers, Herbert Haag, Nelson Haag, and Curtis Haag.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Adcox officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be Davey M. Webb, Davey B. Webb, Tony Stubblefield, Mark Stubblefield, John Betyo, Joseph Tamo, Harvey Vincent, and Dillon Vincent.
Visitation will be 5 – 7 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
