Hazel Dowdy Goodman, 81, of Jonesboro, died Friday September 6th at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She lived in Jonesboro most of her life and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Goodman was affectionately known as “Miss Hazel” by many close friends and gospel singers traveling through. She lovingly prepared countless meals for family, friends, and singers alike. A kind and tender heart was her witness in life. She will be missed by all those who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Otha and Pearl Dowdy; son Richard Dowdy; two brothers Parker and George Dillard and two sisters Opal Dowdy and Wilma Martinez.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years Floyd Goodman of the home; son David Goodman of Laurens, South Carolina; three daughters Jeanette Gum and Dr. Patricia Judd of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Deborah Trotti of Robertsdale, Alabama; five grandchildren John Judd, Jessica Gregory, Matthew Judd, Kelly White, and Jonathan Goodman; six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday September 8, 2013 at Emerson Memorial Chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Gary Findley officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Danny Goodman, Danny Hughes, Milton Goodman, John Judd, Matthew Judd and Kelly White.
Visitation will be Saturday September 7, 2013 from 6:00 -8:00 PM at Emerson Funeral Home.
