Harvey Lee, Stallings, 88, of Jonesboro passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.
Harvey was born on September 19, 1928 in Jonesboro to the late Herbert and Bernice King Stallings. He lived in the Jonesboro area all his life. He attended Bethany Nazarene College before transferring to Arkansas State College. He was a member of the Forest Home Church of the Nazarene. He was very involved with his church where he was a former Superintendent of Sunday School and also taught Sunday School. He served on different committees with the church, and he also helped build the church that was located on Race Street. He was owner/operator of the Lake City Lumber Company. He was a long time home builder in the Jonesboro area. He was a member of the University Heights Lions Club. He was an avid St Louis Cardinal Fan, softball player, and bowler for many years. Not only did he love to play but he would help coach as well.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by daughter, Sandra Rook; brother, Neil Stallings; sister, Delores Hendrix; great grandson, William Stallings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Rose Mary May Stallings of the home; sons, Ronnie (Debra) Stallings and Tim (Tammy) Stallings all of Jonesboro; daughter, Brenda (Larry) Higgins of Marianna; son-in-law, Rick Rook of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren, Matt (Heather) Stallings of Jonesboro, Kevin (Whitney) Rook of Cabot, Jason Rook of Jonesboro, Justin (Nicole) Higgins of Marianna, Jeffrey (Kasey) Higgins of Jonesboro, Jonathan (Melanie) Higgins of Trumann, and Connor Stallings of Jonesboro, Beth (Mark) Silverthorn of Jonesboro, and Jenna (Josh) Rowden of Searcy ; thirteen great grandchildren, Max Rook, Jett Rook, Trip Silverthorn, Tessa Silverthorn, Emma Kate Higgins, Mary Harper Higgins, George Henry Higgins, Ellie Klaire Higgins, Jay Harrison Higgins, Hudson Tate Rowden, Cooper Stallings, Griffin Silverthorn, and Beckett Stallings; brothers, Earnie (Bobbie) Stallings and Herb (Sharon) Stallings both of Jonesboro; sisters, June Gibson and Martha Brown both of Jonesboro; brother-in-law’s, Tommy Hendrix and Tom Brown;; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00pm in the Forest Home Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ken Stallings officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Pallbearers will be Mr. Stallings grandsons; Matt Stallings, Kevin Rook, Jason Rook, Justin Higgins, Jeffrey Higgins, Jonathan Higgins, and Connor Stallings.
Visitation will be from 12:00pm until service time at the church.
