Harvey F. Newcom

Harvey F. Newcom, 57, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday evening, January 8, 2008, in Jonesboro.

Born in Jonesboro, Harvey lived most of his life in the Bay and Jonesboro area. He was the owner of Newcom Body Shop in Jonesboro and was of the Baptist belief. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was preceded in death by his parents: Oliver and Helen Newcom, and a brother, Herbert Newcom.

Survivors include:

A daughter and her husband: Mandy and Chris Hathcoat of Jonesboro;

Step daughter and her husband: Kesa and Kenny Martin of Jonesboro;

His former wife: Patricia Newcom of Jonesboro;

1 Sister: Liz Corbett of Jonesboro; and

3 Grandchildren: Cole Brannen of Jonesboro, Libby Martin of Hot Springs, and Cain Martin of Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Glen Putman officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include: Jack McCann, Kenny Ellenburg, Kenny Martin, Roger Cope, Ron Robson and Jerry “Butch” Yeager.

Members of DFA Hunting Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home.
