Harry L. Scott, 90, of Jonesboro passed from this life on May 8, 2017 with his family by his side.
Harry Scott was born in Luxora, AR July 25, 1926. He grew up in Wynne, AR where he became an Eagle Scout in his teen years. He played football and graduated High School from the Baylor Military School located in Chattanooga, TN. He served in the Navy on the USS Dayton during WWII. After serving his country, he graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1950 then moved to Jonesboro to work with his father in his business, the Royal Crown Cola Bottling Company where he met his wife of 62 years and raised 5 children. He was a charter member of the University Heights Lions Club, loved his Lord and faithfully served the First United Pentecostal Church for many years. He completed his working career selling coffee & supplies to businesses all over NE Arkansas, becoming recognized as “The Coffee Man”. He received the Distinguished Senior Employee Award of Arkansas from the Arkansas Department of Labor in 1996. He leaves his family a legacy of strong faith, love, patience & service to God. He was loved by all, especially his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilmuth Dorris Scott; father, Harry L. Scott Sr. and step-mother, Rose Scott; and a sister and brother-in-law, Dorris Lee and Bill Binnion.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Jean Pyle Scott of Jonesboro; two sons, Jim Scott, John Scott and wife Heather all of Jonesboro; three daughters, Libby Walzer and husband Kurt, Lynn Teague and husband Tyrus, and Janet Scott all of Jonesboro; brothers, Charles Scott of Cedar Hill, TX and Michael Scott and wife Rickie of Ridderkirk in the Netherlands; ten grandchildren, Brett Walzer (Katie), Bryce Walzer (Ella), Jake Scott, Luke Scott, Blake Walzer, Ty Teague, Anna Teague, Katherine Sparrow-Scott, Abigail Scott, and Allison Scott, and several nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be Friday, June 9, 2017 at 6pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Ken Stallings officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. A private family graveside service took place on May 25, 2017 in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors, and honored to serve as pallbearers were Mr. Scott’s grandsons.
The family would like to extend a special Thanks to Pat Swan his faithful caregiver, Dr. Corey Diamond, Dr. Ladd Scriber, Dr. Jay Cranfill, the employees of Jonesboro Healthcare and Rehab, who lovingly cared for their father.
