Harriett Hare Yarbrough, 90, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on May 15, 2022 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Harriett was born in Fort Wayne, IN on August 16, 1931 to the late Evelyn and Ralph Hare. In addition to her parents, Harriett is preceded in death by her husband Don "Smoke" Yarbrough; and son, John Yarbrough.
Harriett moved to Jonesboro from Fort Wayne in 1954. She was a graduate of Purdue College of Pharmacy and was the first female pharmacist in Jonesboro. Harriett was also a member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. For the church, she served as a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. In addition to helping with Sunday school, she also worked for the First Baptist Care Center. Outside of her duties in the church and as a pharmacist, Harriett loved traveling with her friend Sue. They traveled all over, but Harriett especially loved the Gulf of Mexico.
Harriett is survived by her nephews, nieces, cousins, and her special friends, Sue Lunceford, Tamara Elias, and Donna Schisler.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 Tuesday May 17, 2022 at Oaklawn Cemetery.
