Harriett Jannice Turner Hyatt of Jonesboro, 97, died on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Born to Annie Stephens and Harvey Turner on February 15, 1926, she was a woman who cared about people, a community leader. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed a successful 25-year career as a Psychiatric Nurse (LPTN). She was appointed to the first integrated nursing board by governor, William Jefferson Clinton. She went on to join the Governor’s Review Board. Harriett was known as a jack-of-all-trades; she was a beautician but also enjoyed repairing automobiles and small appliances. She had many interests, but her true purpose was serving people and her community. She was a founding board member of Rights in Education for Students and Parents (RESP) Inc., a nonprofit community service organization. She fed the hungry and clothed the needy. She gave her all to her church and her community and served them well.
