Harold Ray Simpson, 82, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House with his family by his side. Born to the late Guy and Elmira Simpson on February 7, 1942, in Brookland, Ray was a lifelong resident of Jonesboro and a member of Family Fellowship Baptist Church.
Ray’s main hobby throughout his life was his work, which he approached with dedication and passion. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends, drinking coffee at the local coffee shop. By trade, he was a long-time electrician, respected and known for his skills and work ethic. Ray also retired with 35 years with the Army National Guard. The 875th Engineering Battalion.
In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his two sons, Ryan Simpson and Rider Simpson, and two brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Simpson of Jonesboro; his brother, Bernard (Edna) Simpson of Vilonia; his sister-in-law, Lisa (Doin) Bowers Jr. of Paragould; niece, Byshea (Michael) Morgan of Piggott; nephew, Trey (Christian) Bowers of Corning; and four great-nieces and nephews, Butler Bowers, Dutch Bowers, Briggs Morgan, and Rider Monroe Morgan.
A private graveside service will be held at Pine Log Cemetery for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Ray's memory.
