Harold Edward Ramien, 92, of Jonesboro, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born on February 12, 1920 in Kankakee, Illinois to the late William and Bertha Volkmann Ramien. Harold was a WW II veteran, spending his service time in Panama. He worked as a Field Engineer for Westinghouse where he received the opportunity to travel the world and work with NASA and other government agencies. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed watching all sports events. He and his wife Esther moved to Jonesboro 10 years ago and are members of Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Esther, of the home; one step-daughter, Bonnie Kelly and husband Kent of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Brian (Michelle) Kelly and Kim (Greg) Laffoon; five great grandchildren, Charla (Jeff) Hart, Kyle Kelly, Clint Simpson, and Trace Laffoon; three great-great grandchildren, Acelen Hart, Tripp Hart, and Phoenix Kelly; a nephew, Tom Minor and wife Judy, and a niece, Jan (John) Ivicic and a host of other family and friends.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a nephew, Bill Minor and two sisters, Florence (Clarence) Minor and Dorothy (Clem) Haber.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Kent Kelly, Brian Kelly, Kyle Kelly, Clint Simpson, Tom Minor, and Jeff Hart.
Visitation will be Monday February 20, 2012 from 12:30 – 2 pm at Emerson Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Monday February 20, 2012 at 2:30pm in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Russell Shewmaker officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
