Harold Dowdy Jr., 78, of Jonesboro passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born June 10, 1942 in Walnut Ridge to the late Harold and Opal Dowdy. Harold was a member of Bono United Pentecostal Church. He loved his family and was a hard worker. Harold worked most of his life in wholesales and he worked for Quality Gladiolus Gardens until they closed then he transferred to Quality Wholesale Florist.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Dowdy and 3 brothers, Earnest Dowdy, Reginald Dowdy and William Dowdy.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Reba “Charlene” Dowdy of the home; 2 sons, Steven (Kathy) Dowdy of Jonesboro, Jordan (Tori) Dowdy of Jonesboro; 2 daughters, Leann Martin of Jonesboro, Mica Clements of Jonesboro; daughter in law, Angela Dowdy of Mississippi; 2 brothers, Sherman (Wanda) Dowdy of Jonesboro, David Dowdy of Jonesboro; sister, Lucille Pennley of Jonesboro; sister in law, Lois Dowdy of Jonesboro; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Monday, May 10, at 1:00 p.m. in Bono United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Dan Murphy and Pastor Bradley Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Strangers Home Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
