Harold E. Callahan, 55, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Harold was born in Chicago, IL on November 27, 1961, and his family later moved to the Lake City where he was a 1980 graduate of Lake City High School. He has lived in Jonesboro for the past 30 years, and worked for M.C. Express. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Jonesboro. He was a hardworking, positive, and caring man that loved his family. His infectious smile and love for life will truly be missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Angela "Sissy" Oliver.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Callahan of the home; sons, Josh Sparrow (Alecia) and Jacob Callahan both of Jonesboro; daughter, Hallie Callahan of Jonesboro; parents, Danny and Janice Strickland of Lake City; sister, Sherrie Stewart (Scott) of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Colton and Addison Sparrow; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services will be at 11am on Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church in Jonesboro with Bro. Don Vuncannon officiating. Interment will follow at Bowman Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements. Josh Sparrow, Braden Stewart, Ryan Teague, Ronnie Teague, David Carnes, Chuck Mitchell, William Moore, and Owen Wilson will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Cole, Bryan Glenn, Brandon Glenn, Mark Paxton, Adam West, Scott Stewart, Issac Richart, Hallie Callahan, Jed Davis, Stacy Schwindt, and all his fellow Truck Drivers.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from to 5-7 at Emerson Funeral Home.
The family requested that for lasting memorials to consider the NEA Baptist Cancer Center, 4808 E. Johnson Ave., Jonesboro, AR 72401, in loving memory of Harold Callahan.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the Doctors and Nurses at NEA Baptist Cancer Center and the Pulmonary Department.
