Hal Emerson Mccloud

Hal Emerson McCloud, Jr., 84, of Jonesboro joined the angels Thursday, September 28, 2022. He was born February 15, 1938 - he liked to joke that he waited for pay day - in Kansas City, Missouri to Hal and Eva McCloud.

He enjoyed fifty-six years of marriage to the love of his life Marilyn, with whom he adopted three children and raised two more. As a Dr. of physics, he dedicated his life to learning, both his own and that of countless others who passed through Arkansas State University. Outside work Hal had a passion for trains, travel, and all things military. He was of the Christian faith and a staunch Republican. When it came to his beliefs, Hal would never compromise.

He is preceded in death by his parents, oldest son Nick, and grandson Hunter. Survivors include his wife Marilyn, son Stacey McCloud of Jonesboro, daughter Tracy McCloud of Jonesboro, daughter-in-law Michelle McCloud, seven grandkids, and five great-grandkids.

A small, private memorial is planned for close friends and family.
