Gwendolyn Marie Gibson, 86, of Jonesboro died Tuesday night, February 12, 2008 at her home. She was born in Kensett, Arkansas and had lived in Jonesboro most of her life. She was a member of the Nettleton Baptist Church. As a graduate of Nettleton High School she went on to Arkansas State University where she received her Bachelors and Masters degree in Education. She had been the psychological examiner for the Jonesboro School District.
Gwendolyn taught school at Bay, Brookland, Egypt, five years in California, and at Jonesboro High School, where she retired at age 65. She was the daughter of Ed and Evelyn Williams and a loving and devoted wife of Dallas O. Gibson for fifty years. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, Dallas E. Gibson; one sister, Louise Gilbert; and one brother, Robert Williams.
She is survived by three daughters, Delois A. Vance and her husband Roger; Jackie M. Birdsell and husband Billy; and Wyvetta Bennett and husband Lindel, all of Jonesboro; two sisters Geraldine Little of Michigan; and Carol Ludney, West Virginia; Brothers, Wilford (Bill) Williams, Lake City, Arkansas; Dale Williams and Billy Williams, both of Jonesboro. There are ten grandchildren, Douglas O. Woodard, Janet Nickerson, Gilbert Vance, Regina Spence, Dallas Spence, Timmy Spence, Ginger Davis, Kim Birdsell, Michael Bennett and Robby Bennett. Fifteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren also survive Mrs. Gibson.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Brother Stan Ballard officiating and burial to follow at Nettleton Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
