Gwen Shreve

Gwen Shreve, 69, of Lake City, died Monday, December 22, 2025, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born in Newport to Cecil and June Horn. She had lived in Lake City since 2018, moving there from Weiner in 1994. She was an active member of the Weiner First Assembly of God Church and served as the church secretary for many years. It was said on many occasions that Gwen was the glue that held the church together. She retired from St. Bernards after 16 years of service in the Operating Room. She worked at the Dairy Shack for over 20 years in Waldenburg, and she and her husband also owned a BBQ place. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Mike “Moe” Shreve, of the home; daughters, Cecilia Gauf of Lake City; Mica Harris and husband Andrew of Floral, Arkansas; brother, Bryan Horn of Jonesboro; siters, Connie Davenport of Newport; Veronica Thompson of Evening Shade, Arkansas; grandchildren Marley Gauf, Maggie Gauf, and Gracie Harris; and a special friend, Doris Wall.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00, PM, Friday, December 26. 2025, at First Assembly of God Church in Weiner with Rick Ferren officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time.
