Guy Spencer

Guy Spencer, 88, of Bay passed from this life Thursday, December 7, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Bay on September 3, 1929 to the late V.V. and Mildred Spencer. He spent all but two of his 88 years residing in the Bay Community where he was also a long time member of Bay Church of Christ.

Guy enjoyed deer and quail hunting while also spending his time gardening. He was an avid farmer and loved playing checkers, Rummy, and dominoes. Most of all Guy was such a faithful man who read his bible daily.

In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by his daughter: Becky Spencer; six brothers: Marvin Spencer, Marlin Spencer, Howard Spencer, Roosevelt Spencer, T.S. Spencer, and Ed Spencer; and sister: Louise Cook.

Guy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jane Spencer, of the home; two sons; Jim(Molly) Spencer and Jeremy Spencer both of Bay; five daughters: Sharon(Charles) Nance of Jonesboro, Karen(Ricky)Warren of Bay, Brenda(Dean) Boyd of Brookland, Janice Ann(Gaylon) McDaniel of Bay, and Andrea (Keith) Brown of Bay; two brothers: Sam Spencer of Bay and Amos Spencer formerly of Jonesboro; four sisters: Maxine(Jerry) Sisk of Bartlett, TN, Betsy Malone of Jonesboro, Linda Sue(Ray) Covey of Sherwood, and Ann (Wayne) Dunaway of Jonesboro; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday, December 8, 2017 at Emerson Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be at 2 pm Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Emerson Funeral Home with Mark Brewer and Ted Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with active pallbearers being: Brad Boyd, Ricky Loyd, Robbie Spencer, Troy Brown, Brett Brown, and Tyler McDaniel. Honorary Pallbearers will be great grandsons and Justin Warren.
