Griffin Adams, 91, of Jonesboro passed away on December 28, 2016 at St. Bernards Medical Center with his family by his side.
Griffin was born in Brookland and lived all his life in Northeast Arkansas. He served our country with the United States Marine Corps. He spent two and half years overseas without a furlough during World War II. He farmed, drove a dump truck, and built homes throughout his working career. His favorite job was driving his dump truck. He was a member of the Nettleton Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Cora Wilson Adams; ten brothers and sisters; and the mother of his children, Charlene Adams.
He is survived by his loving wife Sue Pettit Adams of home; sons, Wayne Adams of Las Vegas, Derrel (Dollie) Adams of Jonesboro, Todd (Karen) Pettit of Jonesboro, and Matt (Lara) Pettit of Tuckerman; grandchildren, Elizabeth Adams, Stephen Adams, Ashley Adams, Lyndsey Pettit, Allyson Pettit, Brandon Pettit, Shanna Hunt, and Mary Polk; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 2pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Stan Ballard officiating. Interment will be follow at Pine Log Cemetery with Military Honor.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rex Gatlin, Winfred Gatlin, Bruce Gatlin, Wayne Davenport, Roy Davenport, and Bobby Hunt. Honorary pallbearers are Harold and Cheri Nichols, George Surbaugh, George Williamson and his Sunday School Class at Nettleton Baptist Church, Dr. Rick Tate, and the Nursing Staff at St. Elizabeth’s Place.
