Grace Maxine Cooper

Grace Maxine Cooper, 93, of Jonesboro passed from this life Thursday, September 15, 2016 at her home. She was born July 6, 1923 in Hoxie, Arkansas to the late Arthur Melvin and Mary Ozella Birchfield. Maxine resided in Jonesboro since 1950 after coming from the Bay, Lake City and Nettleton area. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church here in Jonesboro.

Maxine was an accomplished seamstress. She also enjoyed needlework and cooking. Her recent project was lovingly crocheting gifts for family and friends.

Maxine was a loving and dedicated wife for 63 years. She loved and enjoyed her children, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Cooper, of 63 years; brother: Norris Birchfield; sister: Mary Bunch; and one infant child.

Maxine is survived by her son: James (Teresa) Cooper of Jonesboro; two daughters: Linda Moon of Little Rock and Lonnia Cooper of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren: Chase Cooper, Dallas Moon, Heather Moon, Rebecca Hanssen, Dustin Osment, Dillon Osment, Darby Osment, and Channing Cooper; and one great-grandchild: Harper Rose Cooper.
A visitation will be from 1- 2:30pm Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Emerson Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be 3 pm Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Bruce Venable officiating and Emerson Fuenral Home in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers will include: Dustin Osment, Dillon Osment, Brent Cain, Bryan Cain, Mark Travis, and Brandon Travis. Honorary pallbearers will include: Larry Cain, Bob McKeel, Bob Ruff, all her family, special friends, her St. Bernard’s home hospice workers, and the St. Bernard’s Senior Health Clinic.
