Gordon Lee Hughes, 68, of Jonesboro passed Sunday, September 10, 2017 at White River Medical Center in Cherokee Village. He was born January 21, 1949 in Pocahontas to the late William and Alma Hughes. Gordon served as a Combat Engineer with the 1 st Calvary Division during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded two purple hearts. He was a member of the VFW and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Gordon retired from Cash Valley Electric after 15 years. He was also a devoted family man.

In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Hughes; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Survivors include his son, Chad (Emily) Hughes of Wentzville, Missouri; daughter, Christa (Ronnie) Brand of Bay; stepdaughter, Carla Bradford of Jonesboro; 2 brothers, Jack Hughes of Davenport, Florida, Bill (Mary Jo) Hughes of Tucson, Arizona; 1 sister, Eva Jo (Cecil) Goings of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren: Lisa Hammett of Brookland, Beth Mullins of Wynne, Londyn Hughes of Jonesboro, John Brand of Bay, Allison Brand of Bay, Avery Hughes of Wentzville and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11:00 am in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Danny Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with active Pallbearers being Chad Hughes, Ronnie Brand, Dewayne Hammett, Ray Mullins, Dale Morris and Gary Sawyers.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am prior to the service.
