Glenn Alex Oyler

September 15, 1932 — March 29, 2011

Glenn Oyler, 78, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. Born in Ash Flat, he was a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1986 moving here from Memphis. He grew up in Ash Flat and spent his elementary years in Ash Flat and spent his junior high and most of his high school years in Cashmere, Washington. He moved back to northeast Arkansas and graduated from Bay High School. While in the Air Force, he served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam eras and served tours of duty in England, Italy, and the Philippines. After retiring, he worked in real estate and as a car salesman in Memphis. He was the owner of the Valchez Gift Shop in Jonesboro. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Faye Gilbert Oyler, Jonesboro; son and daughter-in-law, Rick & Mary Cay Oyler of Germantown; grandchildren, Austin Oyler, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Nicholas Oyler, College Station, Texas, Jason Oyler, Nesbit, Mississippi, April Stacks, Nesbit, Mississippi; and 2 great grandchildren, Tony Stacks and Leland Oyler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil & Faye Spurlock Oyler; a son, Michael Oyler; and a sister, Lafon Aker.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Simon Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

His grandsons, as well as, Shannon Aker, Hunter Martin, and Jacob Martin will serve as honorary pallbearers. Military personnel will serve as active pallbearers.

Visitation will be Friday 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family is requesting donations to be made to Homes for our Troops Organization, www.homesforourtroops.org. Online donations can be made in Glenn's name.
