Glenda “Nikki” Gilbert, 72, of Jonesboro passed away September 29, 2021, at NEA Baptist Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born October 7 ^th , 1948, in Wilson County, North Carolina.  She married Charles “Chuck” Gilbert on October 11, 1968, in Alexander, VA after meeting at Gunston Baptist Church in Lorton, Va.  They shared 53 years of marriage and raised two children in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  She spent her life as a homemaker, a very talented seamstress, created sewing techniques she shared with many students through teaching classes.  She was a very active member of Nettleton Baptist Church, serving any time she saw a need, and loved being part of the children’s ministry.  She served as a CASA volunteer, enjoyed many creative hobbies, and camping trips. More than anything she loved spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband; son Deven (Sandie) Gilbert of Mountain Home, AR; daughter Ashley (JC) York of Nashville, TN.; Grandchildren: Hillary Coleman, Tyler Griffin, Brittany Gilbert, Breanna Glasgow, Ashton Gilbert, Olivia Allen, Hannah York, Claire York, Rachel York, and Ian York.; Great Grandchildren Jack Radcliff, Izzy Coleman, Kaiden Davis, Eastyn Gilbert, Luke Coleman, Brayleigh Coleman. Brothers, Kenny Nicholson, Bladen, NC, Ronnie Nicholson, Fredericksburg, VA, sisters, Carolyn “Boots” (Jim) Meeks, Woodbridge, VA, Wanda Hagler, Independence, KY.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Garland and Carolyn Nicholson, two sisters, four brothers, and her grandson Spencer Gilbert.

A visitation will be held Monday, October 4, 2021 from 1-2 pm at Emerson Funeral Home.

The funeral service will immediately follow the service with Bro. Stan Ballard and Bro. Brady Canright officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
