Glenda Lou Cleghorn, 86, of Jonesboro, departed this life on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 24, 1938, to the late Robert and Dona McClelland in Monette, Arkansas. Glenda had a love for reading, solving puzzles, and quilting. She was also known for being a wonderful cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Cleghorn; two brothers, Gene Austin McClelland and Lloyd Earl McClelland; and two sisters, Bonnie Sue LaRue and Robbie McClelland.
Glenda is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, J.C. Cleghorn of the home; one son, Barry Cleghorn (Joyce) of Jonesboro; one daughter, Debra Cleghorn of the home; two brothers, Reuben McClelland (Patricia) of Jonesboro and Wayland McClelland (Karen) of Monette; one sister, Labelva Ammons of Knoxville, TN; five grandchildren, Michelle Clairday (Jerome) of Harrisburg, Jeannie Gipson (Howard) of Paragould, James Cleghorn (Kelli) of Paragould, Barry Cleghorn Jr. (Bobie) of Liberty, MO, and Michael Russell (Melissa) of Jonesboro; 22 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, starting at 9:00 a.m., with the funeral service following at 10:30 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Brother Brian Beach officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include Jack Despain, Gary Despain, Tim Despain, Eddie Despain, Michael Russell, Blake McClelland, and Keith Rubuttom.
